A manicure is the thorough treatment and care of the fingernails. A classic manicure usually includes the following steps: first, the hands are bathed in warm water to make it easier to cut the fingernails and remove or push back the cuticles. The nails are then shaped with a nail file and excess cuticle is removed. Finally, the fingernails are buffed and painted if you wish. The hands are often moisturised at the end as well.

A manicure should be repeated every two to four weeks, depending on the condition and strength of the nails.

The benefits of a manicure:

  • Promotes healthy nails
  • Well-groomed appearance
  • Cares for the nails in the long term
  • Cleanses

Manicure with shellac

Shellac is a gel polish that hardens under LED or UV light. This type of polish creates a high-gloss, scratch-resistant finish. Shellac is liquid when applied but hardens under LED or UV light. In this process, the polish bonds with the nail and sets. Unlike conventional polish, it therefore has no drying time.

Shellac usually lasts two to three weeks on the nails, depending on wear. To remove shellac, conventional acetone-based nail polish remover is used.

Contrary to many claims, a manicure with shellac is not harmful to health.

Benefits of a manicure with shellac:

  • Lasts longer
  • Scratch-resistant
  • Chip-resistant
  • Very glossy
